Clinical Lead GP

Neyland and Johnston GP Practices have joined the Hywel Dda University Health Board portfolio of Managed Practices from 1 November 2022, following the resignation of the GMS contract. This is an opportunity to join a circa 6,000 patient practice which currently operates over two sites in Neyland and Johnston. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician support. The Health Board is committed to multi-disciplinary team working and will be looking to expand the team further in the coming months.
We are looking for a Clinical Lead GP to join our team to provide leadership as well as a clinical commitment and can offer a mix of face-to-face consultations, telephone triage and remote consultations. The Practice uses E-Consult and has signed up to Workflow Optimization.
You will be part of the wider Health Board GP team and have the opportunity to participate in a monthly Journal Club and have peer support through the Deputy Medical Director's team, as well as from your salaried GP peers and from the Primary Care Cluster Locality Lead. There is the opportunity for training and development in any areas of specialist interest.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide consultation and appropriate clinical management of patients attending the practice, or to those where a home visit is clinically necessary.
2. To provide leadership, clinical oversight and direction to the rest of the clinical team.
3. To establish and maintain appropriate chronic disease management clinics.
4. To provide telephone and/or virtual consultation and appropriate management of patients who contact the practice, where necessary.
5. To undertake telephone triage as and when necessary.
6. To keep accurate and legible records of all patient contacts and contribute to electronic data recording and audit as directed by the service.
7. To ensure in conjunction with the lead nurse and Practice Manager that all medical and other equipment is maintained in good and substantial repair and condition for effective use.

Essential
* Full GMC Registration with a license to practice and entry on the GP Register.
* Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice / Certificate Confirming Eligibility for General Practice Registration (CEGPR), or equivalent.
* Included on a Medical Performers List or eligible.
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
Desirable
* Academic excellence (prizes, merits, distinctions etc.).
* MRCGP.
Clinical Experience

* Broad based experience in Primary Care.
* Knowledge of UK hospital systems (or equivalent).
* Knowledge and participation in CPD.
