Overview:
A core member of White Cube’s dynamic secondary market team, this position will play a crucial role in advancing our strategic initiatives by researching, managing, and maintaining object data. This role will provide insights that support our global sales efforts and market analysis, while ensuring the highest standards of data integrity and discretion when dealing with confidential information.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Research & Analysis:
o Collaborate with the Market Analyst and sales team to document and manage object data, including market and ownership histories.
o Independently update and review artist project initiatives, ensuring adherence to schedules and system standards.
o Gather and analyse market intelligence for potential acquisitions, consignments, and sales.
o Track and update object and market intelligence from external sources like auction databases, art fairs, galleries and news outlets.
o Assist in compiling data for presentations on sourcing, pricing, and sales pipelines.
2. Data Management:
o Act as a key contact for recording and managing object information obtained from global sales team and independent research.
o Ensure data accuracy and integrity within White Cube’s database for seamless search and extraction.
o Create bespoke reports on objects and artists’ markets to support sales strategies.
o Identify and escalate system development needs and issues to the appropriate teams.
o Maintain rigorous data input standards and methodologies.
3. Strategy:
o Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of department objects to contribute to pipeline reviews and sales strategies.
o Support research and pipeline priorities to maximise revenue and market position.
o Participate in global team meetings and planning sessions as needed.
4. Additional Duties:
o Assist the Head of Secondary Market Operations and Market Analyst with various tasks to support the global sales team.
Personal Specification:
* Bachelor’s degree in a fine art category, or equivalent work experience.
* Minimum 2 years paid art world experience required, auction experience preferred.
* Strong interest in Modern and Contemporary Art market essential.
* Previous experience working with data and database management.
* Excellent research and analytical skills, and attention to detail.
* Enjoys stakeholder management.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including strong written and spoken communication.
* Demonstrated ability to multi-task, organise, prioritise, and deliver to tight deadlines.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently on long-term, sometimes confidential projects.
