Pearson Whiffin Recruitment is proud to be exclusively representing a leading specialist insurance provider as they search for an experienced Legal Indemnity Underwriter to join their dynamic team.
This is a rare opportunity to join a respected and innovative business offering bespoke solutions within the property and estate administration sectors.
Working within a collaborative, high-performing team, you’ll underwrite a broad range of residential and commercial legal indemnity risks, delivering top-quality service and technical expertise.
Duties will include:
Assessing and underwriting a range of legal indemnity and estate administration risks with accuracy and confidence
Managing risks within agreed authority limits, ensuring compliance with company procedures, FCA regulations, and Consumer Duty
Producing clear and detailed underwriting notes, including comprehensive risk summaries and justification for decisions
Calculating competitive premiums reflective of the presented risk and company rating guidelines
Exercising delegated authority to approve cases for yourself and colleagues
Building and maintaining strong client relationships through professional communication and attending meetings or events where required
Keeping up-to-date with legal and industry changes, achieving a minimum of 15 hours of CPD annually
Collaborating with sales, brokers, and customer success teams to improve product offerings
Supporting in system development, process improvement, and user acceptance testing
The ideal candidate will have:
A minimum of 4 years' experience underwriting legal indemnity insurance, OR a background in conveyancing/private client law with a desire to move into underwriting
A thorough understanding of defective title and/or estate administration risks
Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems
A proactive, positive “can-do” attitude with a passion for delivering outstanding customer service
The ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing workload effectively to meet KPIs
