Escape Recruitment is working with a leading drinks manufacturing company based in North Lanarkshire to find a highly skilled Electrical Control Engineer. As an integral part of the engineering team, you will support and enhance the functionality of PLC/HMI and process automation technology. Your expertise will contribute to maximising efficiency, minimising downtime, and driving cost-saving improvements across various operations, including production lines, ancillary services, warehousing, and blending. Responsibilities: Implement planned maintenance programs and schedules, recommending improvements to maximise efficiencies. Analyse line efficiency, wastage, and downtime data to identify areas for performance improvement. Carry out prompt fault diagnosis and repair breakdowns to minimise downtime. Work closely with and support the Project Engineering Team to deliver key elements of the business CAPEX plan. Develop PLC/Network standards to support IT/OT infrastructure for new projects. Ensure compliance with safe working practices and factory hygiene standards. Produce detailed written reports, including downtime sheets and line log books, as required. Consult manufacturer's manuals and technical drawings to identify and validate replacement part requirements. Mentor and train others in PLC, HMI, automated applications, and programming, including the development of training materials. Liaise with external suppliers and contractors regarding automation control, software validation, and development. Create and maintain a comprehensive library of asset data to guide and define the overarching software architecture. Continually research and keep pace with cutting-edge developments to ensure asset software compliance with legislative standards. Qualifications and Skills: Minimum HNC level or equivalent education in an Electrical Engineering discipline. Extensive experience in Engineering control and automation. Preferably experienced in a multi-skilled food manufacturing or FMCG environment. In-depth knowledge of computerised maintenance systems and processes. Proven knowledge and experience in initiating and implementing continuous improvements, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma techniques. Experience working on Siemens S7 PLCs and TIA Portal. Ability to communicate within smart factory/industry 4.0 environments. Knowledge of Profibus/ASIbus and Ethernet networking systems. Strong understanding of Servo Drives and associated controls. Familiarity with Variable Speed Drives. Programming skills in relation to Fanuc Robot Systems. Ability to program and "Back Up" HMIs using proprietary software. Attention to detail, accuracy, and a right-first-time approach. Problem-solving mindset, using creativity, innovation, and analytical thinking to find solutions. Ability to work well under own supervision. Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt to emerging i4.0 technologies.
