That’s why we’re offering an exciting opportunity to kick-start your career as an Apprentice Estimator / Tendering Engineer—a role that’s office-based but deeply connected to the practical world of rotating equipment repair.
At Sulzer, we’re a global leader in pump, motor and turbine repair and maintenance. Our Leeds Service Centre supports industries that keep the world moving. In this role, you’ll be helping to scope out solutions, develop costings, and support customer proposals, all while gaining a recognised engineering qualification.
What you’ll be doing:
* Supporting strip and inspect of a wide range of rotating equipment, including pumps, motors, and turbines
* Working closely with technicians and inspectors to understand practical repair methods and support new component design and manufacture
* Participating in design reviews and handovers
* Using engineering knowledge and best practices to help determine costings for complex repairs and upgrades
* Collaborating with Projects, Operations, Procurement, and Quality teams—as well as other Sulzer sites—to build customer proposals
* Hosting and supporting customers during inspection and quotation stages at our Leeds site
Your journey into engineering:
While this role is primarily office-based, you’ll have a strong link to our workshop and practical activities, gaining a deep understanding of how repairs are carried out. You’ll work towards a Level 3 qualification as an Engineering Support Technician, supported by our expert team and dedicated training partner.
You’ll gain valuable experience in:
* Engineering cost estimation and analysis
* Quality and process control
* Planning and budgeting for engineering projects
* Problem-solving within a real-world industrial setting
What we’re looking for:
* 3 predicted or achieved National 5s (or equivalent) at Grade C or above, including Maths and English
* A desire to learn and build a long-term career in engineering
* Excellent communication and time management skills
* A flexible and motivated mindset
* An eye for detail and a passion for continuous improvement
