Role Overview-
We are seeking an experienced Test Manager to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of testing activities across a range of IT projects within a secure, regulated environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and owning the overall testing strategy, managing a team of test analysts, and ensuring high-quality outcomes in line with defined governance frameworks and delivery methodologies.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities-
• Define, own, and manage the end-to-end test strategy for assigned IT projects.
• Lead the creation and execution of test plans, test scripts, and test completion reports aligned to project objectives.
• Oversee functional, non-functional, accessibility, performance, and user acceptance testing activities.
• Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, solution architects, and other stakeholders to ensure test coverage and traceability.
• Identify and manage defects, ensuring timely resolution and reporting through appropriate tooling.
• Ensure compliance with internal project delivery lifecycle, information security standards, and regulatory obligations.
• Work collaboratively within multi-vendor virtual teams and support alignment with governance structures.
• Mentor and guide test analysts, promoting best practices in testing methodologies and documentation.
• Contribute to the evaluation and adoption of test automation tools and the development of automation capabilities.
• Provide management reporting on testing status, risks, issues, and metrics as part of programme governance.
Required Skills and Experience-
• Minimum 5 years of Test Management experience within IT project delivery environments.
• Proven ability to deliver testing in both Waterfall and Agile methodologies, including familiarity with Government Digital Service Standards (GDS) and Technology Code of Practice.
• Strong expertise in:
o Functional and Non-Functional Testing
o Test Automation frameworks and tooling
o User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
o Accessibility and Performance Testing
• Experience in delivering testing services within highly regulated sectors, such as nuclear, energy, defence, or government.
• Ability to coordinate with multi-disciplinary and multi-supplier teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiarity with ISO27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, or NIST-aligned practices.
• Capable of producing structured documentation and ensuring compliance with quality gates.
Security Requirements-
• Candidates must be UK-based and have BPSS clearance.
• Understanding of working in environments with Sensitive Nuclear Information (SNI) or similar regulatory frameworks is desirable.
• Primarily remote delivery. Occasional on-site presence may be required for onboarding or project-specific meetings.
