Role Description
The new Finance Data Product Owner will join the Finance Systems & Change team and work closely in collaboration with Finance Data Development and Engineering team within the Office of the Chief Data Officer (OCDO). They will play an active role being the conduit between both the Finance function and Data team, identifying finance requirements and input into the target Data Architecture. Key responsibilities will be to support the design, build and maintenance of a global and local data pools and infrastructure to support Allianz UK financial operations, reporting and decision making. They will ensure that the technology is scalable and include high performance to drive and deliver instant financial insights.
This role will work with wider business areas, managing and refining a product backlog, turning business requirements into clear User Stories, and leading Agile ceremonies. They will be responsible for ensuring we deliver what we promise in line with our strategic goals and dynamic business needs.
Reporting into the Head of Finance Systems and Change, the Finance Product Owner will work closely with BICOE key Finance stakeholders, Scrum Masters and a Development team to ensure best practice is balanced alongside a value driven strategy.
Key Accountabilities
* Supporting the delivery squad in the design and implementation of Data models that support financial analysis, reporting and forecasting.
* Supporting the delivery team to develop relational, dimensional models and schemas that represent and accommodate financial structures e.g. revenue, expenses, profit margins, budgets and are scalable and configurable for regulatory and commercial changes.
* Ensuring you share and maintain a clear strategic vision when designing, developing and supporting the build of ETLS, data extract automation and the delivery of timely reports and dashboards. Provide data engineering support for the production of financial dashboards and reports ensuring data is up to date and accurate.
* Support the delivery squad as they design, build and manage data warehouse, data lakes and pools to support the changing needs of a finance function, ensuring it’s scalable, flexible and cost effective and performs effectively to store and analyse vast amounts of financial data from multiple sources.
* Work closely with various data teams including Finance Transformation and over Data Dev and Engineering squad to understand their mutual requirements and ensure all inflight projects have a joined up end to end view in relation to processes and data.
* Manage and refine a product backlog, turning business requirements into clear User Stories, and leading Agile ceremonies. They will be responsible for ensuring we deliver what we promise in line with our strategic goals and dynamic business needs.
* Provide consultancy and challenge decisions relating to financial data strategy, to ensure our business colleagues are provided the greater benefit from each delivery.
* Maintain an external view of best practice and drive information strategy, to ensure Allianz is able to drive insight from its data through effective information products.
* Support the change into real time reporting capabilities and evolve the reporting systems to provide fast, 'self-serve' and 'real-time' information and predictive insights.
* Ensure all deliveries are developed as per the strategic delivery patterns and work closely with technical leads to drive automation.
* Manage the team’s Product Backlog by maintaining a clear strategic vision. Ensuring requirements are understood and accepted through planning and refinement.
Essential Skills
* Understanding of integration technologies and middleware.
* Understanding of PowerBI, Microstrategy, Alteryx and other BI Intelligence tools.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
* Continuous learning mindset to stay updated with the latest integration technologies and best practices.
* A good understanding of Data Governance, compliance and quality Assurance.
* A basic understanding of Agile ways of working. Deeper understanding of Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban is a plus.
* Experience of changing technology and processes is a plus.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to establish mutual trust with a range of stakeholders.
* Strong leadership skills. Ability to influence and inspire others, and to challenge a status quo.
* Strong team player. Ability to collaborate with and motivate a cross-functional delivery team.
* Self-motivated and driven to deliver.
* Not afraid to take a risk-based approach to decision making.
Desirable Skills
* Understanding of ERP systems, particularly Oracle Financials and SAP.
* Strong knowledge of version control software.
* Knowledge of infosec policies and compliance standards.
* Previous Product Owner or Project Management experience is preferred.
* Previous experience working in insurance or financial services would be beneficial, collaboration with accounting, FP&A, Business Partnering teams.
* Some business knowledge with a wider understanding of the business vision.
* Familiarity with accounting principles and financials data management.
