Process Technician
Salary – £39,593 to £54,440 per annum (plus benefits)
Hours – 40 hours per week, shift of 12 hours per day, 07:00am to 19:00pm or 19:00pm to 07:00am

The Process Technician at FCC Environment is responsible for the safe operation of the Allington Energy from Recovery Facility. Reporting directly to the Operations Shift Manager, the Process Technician will co-ordinate and carry out the plant operational activities safely, efficiently and in line with FCC Environment's procedures, whilst ensuring the facility is operationally compliant with the Environmental Permit.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.
What will you be doing?
1. Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with FCC Environment policies, procedures and legislation.
2. Operate the plant in a safe, environmentally compliant and efficient manner on a shift rotation basis. This includes waste handling, boiler furnace, steam systems, fans, pumps, Steam Turbine Generator, ash handling, water treatment processes, conveyors, filter systems, and valves.
3. Carry out work in accordance with FCC Environment's operational procedures and risk assessments.
4. Perform the roles of Competent Person and Authorised Person in accordance with FCC Environment Safety Rules.
5. Support operational H&S performance, including safety inspections, plant area responsibilities, and participation in routine H&S meetings and forums.
6. Support operational improvements to increase performance, while liaising with shift operations, maintenance, cleaning, and 1/0 teams. Manage corrective actions, defect notifications, and rectifications.
7. Co-ordinate plant maintenance activities including removing plant from service, providing a safe system of work, and returning the plant to service.
8. Take an active role in the control of operational consumable materials.
9. Support workplace investigations and operational root cause analysis activities.
10. Support the development and implementation of operational strategies and recovery plans.
11. Ensure operational compliance with internal and external standards.
12. Carry out company or specialist training.
13. Act as a trained First Aider.
14. Operate and interrogate complex Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
15. Operate large mobile plant and overhead cranes.
16. In emergency situations, co-ordinate with emergency services and perform the duties of a Fire Marshall under the direction of the Shift Manager.
17. Ensure appropriate standards of housekeeping are maintained.
