At Engineering Direct Ltd we are looking for an experienced Maintenance Plant Fitter to work on our client's busy site.
They are a leading supplier of traditional and sustainable construction materials to major building and construction customers.
As a Plant Fitter, you'll be responsible for safely and efficiently carrying out planned maintenance and repairs to the site and equipment to maintain our asset capacity and value.
Responsibilities
1. Carry out planned maintenance and repairs.
2. Carry out planned repairs to equipment to maintain asset capacity and value.
3. Contribute to the preparation and development of safe working methods for repair procedures.
4. Respond to unplanned repairs and other requirements.
5. Respond to plant breakdowns - ensuring it is returned to production in a timely manner, and temporary fixes are followed up with a permanent solution.
6. Maintain a high standard of housekeeping, keeping areas clean, tidy, and hazard-free.
7. Deal with all daily issues professionally and liaise with site management on a regular basis.
8. Support and train operatives to complete maintenance tasks.
9. Carry out the daily plant and other inspections; complete the forms and notify management immediately where a problem exists.
10. Be responsible for the plant assets that are entrusted to you, i.e., Company Van, materials, plant buildings, equipment, and stores used therein.
11. React promptly and effectively to site breakdowns by liaising with operatives and assisting where needed.
12. Monitor and ensure that all plant stoppages, breakdowns, and logs are documented correctly.
13. Complete and adhere to all safety-related documentation for all maintenance activities.
14. Carry out other reasonable tasks within the scope of your operation and abilities as and when required.
15. Maintain strong communication with the site team.
Person Attributes Required
1. A highly motivated individual with drive and enthusiasm.
2. Ability to work as part of a 7-day-a-week operation as required.
3. Experienced fitter who is also skilled in welding, cutting, and fabricating techniques with a technical qualification, NVQ3 or equivalent.
4. Excellent communication and team working skills.
5. Ability to plan and implement maintenance schedules and a good working knowledge of engineering drawings.
6. Good understanding of health and safety, including environmental considerations.
7. Good organizing skills.
8. IT literacy and ability to work to deadlines.
9. Ability to work flexibly.
Shift Pattern
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Shifts: 6am - 2pm, 2pm - 10pm, and 10pm - 6am (shifts and times will be advised at interview).
