The Offender Health Team truly believes it can make a difference to the lives of individuals in the criminal justice system by offering consistent, equitable, high quality services to service users across the Directorate. If this sounds like a directorate you would like to join, we would like you to be part of our team. You should be enthusiastic, motivated, person-focused and enjoy a challenge. Previous knowledge or experience of OPD services and their underlying ethos is beneficial.
The Offender Health directorate in Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides healthcare to nine prisons and a short term holding facility in Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire. These services include physical healthcare, mental healthcare, and intellectual disability, neurodevelopmental and substance misuse services. The Directorate also provides specialist treatment to individuals with personality-related difficulties at HMP Whatton and HMP North Sea Camp, in addition to two Therapeutic Communities at HMP Gartree and HMP Dovegate (joint NHS/HMPPS), and also offers OPD services within Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire (community provision). This position is within the Community OPD service in Nottinghamshire; however, we are keen to work with people who are interested in working across the Directorate.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist with the identification of individuals with likely problematic personality traits.
2. Under supervision, provide specialist psychological case consultation through planned consultation clinics and informally in response to advice requests.
3. Provide specialist case formulations under supervision on the cases with the most complex needs where establishing the management arrangements and pathway requires a sophisticated understanding of the individual.
4. Provide an explanation that helps probation staff understand an individual's behaviour, presentation and problems.
5. Use a framework to develop a hypothesis or theory about the onset, motivation and maintenance factors about an individual's behaviour and functioning, providing a testable hypothesis and prediction about how offender managers may engage effectively with the individual.
