WillisPalmer is looking for experienced Family Support Workers t o work in family homes, in London and the surrounding areas for daytime and weekend shifts up to 7 days a week. When assignments are available, you choose your own shift pattern per assignment for the duration of the work. About the role Our Family Support Service helps parents with their parenting skills so children can live safe and happy lives. Our Family Support Workers assist families facing parenting challenges, by using their skills and experience, to provide safe-care guidance to new parents and deliver positive parenting programs for parents of children ranging in age from toddlers to teenagers. The role is Independent, and assignment based. It offers fantastic opportunities to work with caring and dedicated child protection professionals, supporting parents to improve their ability to care for their children safely at home. We provide Family Support to families whose children are subject to Care Proceedings, Child Protection or Child in Need plans, so a sound understanding of safeguarding children principles is essential. Our Safer Recruitment Policy The role of a Family Support Worker is to promote the safety and wellbeing of children at home in their parents' care. To ensure we provide the highest standards of safeguarding we follow the NSPCC Safer Recruitment Policy. Owing to the nature of the role, applicants will undergo strict vetting procedures, which include an Enhanced DBS, qualification, reference, and identity checks, plus you will need to provide a recent professional reference from a position where you have worked directly with children. At least 12-months' Family Support Worker experience with parents, children, or young people in their homes and communities. Skills or experience in the following areas: family support, children's social care, positive parenting facilitator, foster carer, health visitor, social worker. Excellent timekeeping. The ability to type session reports using MS Word and send by email within strict deadlines. Session reports need to be factual, concise and evidence based. They provide vital information about a parent's care of their children and family functioning. The ability to attend regular, weekly video meetings on MS Teams to provide updates on families progress. An understanding of the importance of working with families whose children are subject to Care Proceedings, Child Protection or Child in Need plans. Ability to work independently, as well as a member of a team of family support workers and social workers. Additional Information This is not an employed role, to undertake this assignment, sessional work, you must be registered as a limited company, or with a UK based umbrella company.
