UHI Orkney is seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the above post.
Are you passionate about helping others reach their full potential? Do you have a knack for coaching and assessing vocational, work-based skills? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our SVQ health and social care team at UHI Orkney.
As SVQ Instructor, you will play a key role in guiding and supporting candidates through their vocational qualifications, ensuring high standards and fair assessment practices.
Duties will include assessing SVQ 2, 3 and 4 candidates, offering guidance and support throughout their award. Evaluating candidates' performance against national occupational standards. You will also verify completed assessments to ensure consistency and quality. You will work closely with Health & Social Care Departments and quality teams to maintain high standards and up-to-date practices and provide constructive feedback to candidates to help them improve and achieve.
You should hold an HNC/SVQ 3 or equivalent level qualification in health and social care. You should also hold relevant SVQ Assessor (L&D 9) and Verifier qualifications (L&D 11) or achieve these qualifications within 12 months of appointment.
You should have considerable experience of working in this environment, with an in-depth knowledge of current, best practice and a good understanding of SVQ frameworks and assessment practices within health and social care settings.
You will have excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. You should have experience of mentoring / supporting others undertaking SVQ or other learning programmes. It is essential that you are organized and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a passion for helping others develop their vocational skills and achieve their goals and where applicable meet qualification criteria for SSSC registration.
Training and support will be provided to achieve the essential assessor and verifier qualifications if not already held. We will provide a supportive and dynamic team environment, and opportunities for professional development and career growth.
You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
This post is subject to membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.
