Are you ready for the next step in your teaching career? Are you seeking a new opportunity that offers progression? Would you thrive in our supportive and highly successful department?
We are looking to appoint an outstanding classroom practitioner to lead our geography team in the role of Coordinator of Learning - Geography from September 2025 (or earlier dependent on availability). Geography is the most popular Humanities option at GCSE with around 4 classes each year creating the Year 10 cohort and continued growth is expected. This is a result of a well-resourced and enjoyed Key Stage 3 International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. To follow on from this success, some years ago we began to offer IB Diploma Geography as part of the Post 16 offering, which has had excellent results and enjoyment since its inception. The successful candidate will lead on the continued development of our international curriculum in Key Stage 3, and Key Stage 5 preferably (although training will be provided), as well as continuing the trend of improvement seen in GCSE AQA Geography.
Geography sits within the wider, vibrant and successful Humanities faculty of 11 teachers that deliver six other subjects and the team also has regular opportunities to meet peers from across the trust that include exam markers and a dedicated Curriculum Adviser. This means that the successful candidate will be coordinating a subject with considerable autonomy, but also in a supportive and established team. Now is the time to join a team that is truly changing lives and positively transforming the local community by creating internationally-minded students.
Our successful candidate will be a talented Coordinator and will join us on a permanent, full-time basis, offering a MPS/UPS commensurate with experience + TLR2a (£3,201).
The Leigh Academy prides itself on being able to offer the following to our successful candidate:
* Whole class feedback utilised to reduce workload
* One-to-one Chromebook for every student
* 2 p.m finish for students every Wednesday to allow for dedicated professional development time
* Access to many trust benefits including membership to the National College, bespoke PD opportunities and cross-trust collaboration
