Are you looking for a rewarding, term-time only role supporting young people with disabilities to make the most of their time at college?
Join award-winning National Star College in Hereford as a lead care and education support worker supporting our students with varied and complex disabilities to learn, develop and flourish whilst maintaining their health and wellbeing, so they can reach their full potential whilst at College.
The young adults aged 16-25 years that learn with us as day students have big personalities and even bigger ambitions to make the most of their education so that they can live as independently as possible.
Our committed staff team put students first in everything that they do, being proactive, dynamic and collaborative for the benefit of the learners, whatever their ability.
Leading by example and role modelling, you will be guiding and mentoring the team of care workers to ensure that the highest standards of care and support are provided to our learners.
You will need strong communication skills and the ability to work in partnership with the tutors and therapists as well as parents and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to individual learning.
Enthusiasm, professionalism and a strong work ethic is essential, as well as being able to demonstrate a positive attitude towards the aspirations of young people with disabilities. You will be a self-starter who can use your own initiative, be able to manage change and show resilience when things don’t go to plan.
We would expect you to have a strong background in working with people with learning and/or physical disabilities in either a care or education related role. A relevant Level 2 qualification is essential and you must be willing to work towards a level 3 – we will fully support you with our own training team. In return we offer excellent training and development opportunities and support for you to develop your long-term career with us.
You will need to be available between 8.00am – 4:00 pm (5pm one evening a week, usually Thursday, for team meeting) Monday to Friday, for 39 weeks, term-time.
The hourly rate for this role is £12.35 per hour equating to an annual salary of £22,174 – this will be paid pro rata for the rest of the academic year and will be discussed at interview.
Please note that we are unable to provide visa sponsorship and are not able to consider secondary part-time employment for this role.
