The role
As a Network Operations Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the contract to manage and operate Skynet, the UK Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) military satellite communications system and ground stations.
Day-to-day, you’ll perform health checks of the network and underlying infrastructure, as well as:
* Answer customer queries and assist with satellite acquisition.
* Assist other Babcock teams in test and repair activities.
* Generate reports to validate network state and inform customers.
This role is full time and based onsite at our Hawthorn location.
Essential experience of the Network Operations Engineer:
* Good IP switching and routing skills, to CCNA/CCNP level
* Broad exposure to the telecommunications industry in general
* Exposure to / familiarity with satellite communications systems
* Knowledge of digital broadcast technologies
Qualifications for the Network Operations Engineer:
* Degree or HNC/HND or equivalent in Telecommunications or Electronic Engineering. Applications are also welcomed from individuals with significant demonstrable experience who don’t hold formal qualifications.
Security Clearance
* The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
* Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
