Job Title: Head of Culture and Heritage
If you are a senior leader who is enthusiastic about working in an ambitious borough that values culture, heritage, and creativity, then this role is for you.
The Head of Culture and Heritage is an exciting opportunity for someone eager to work in a borough that has recently developed its cultural and heritage offerings. Reporting to the Strategic Director of Inclusive Growth and Place, the postholder will be part of the senior management team within the directorate.
The postholder will lead the culture and heritage service, which includes an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation and several arts and heritage assets. We are currently finalizing a new Culture and Heritage Strategy, which will set out a vision for the service through 2030. There is ample opportunity for a new leader to influence the implementation of this strategy.
Our residents are central to this strategy, and the council aims to ensure all residents can engage in creative and cultural activities rooted in the borough’s heritage and diverse communities. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in public health and employment sectors to create opportunities that positively impact residents’ lives.
The role is offered as a full-time position; however, for the right candidate, we are open to offering a 0.8 FTE arrangement.
As part of our commitment to career development, internal applicants will receive support with CVs, applications, and interview preparation. This support is available only to staff employed by the council (permanent, temporary, or fixed-term). If interested, please email us at k at your earliest convenience.
Re-applying for posts: Applicants who have not been shortlisted or were unsuccessful at interview cannot reapply for the same role within six months of the initial advert. For more details, visit our Jobs and Career Page under ‘Working for us and Information for Applicants’ on our website.
About You

Dynamic and driven, you will know how to deliver results sustainably. You will be able to communicate clearly and build strong relationships with the community, funders, and stakeholders across public and private sectors.
