A timetable of responsibilities will be subject to negotiation and mutual agreement with the successful applicant, in conjunction with Consultant Microbiologist colleagues. The job plan will be reviewed at 3 months. These duties may be subject to review to reflect the changing needs of the service. If changes to the described duties are required, these will be mutually agreed between the appointee, consultant colleague(s), and the Trust.
Microbiologists do not work to rigid programmes, but a suggested weekly job plan/timetable is outlined below: The laboratory-related clinical microbiology includes daily antibiotics ward rounds supported by an antimicrobial pharmacist, daily ICU ward rounds, and weekly Haematology and Neonatal ward rounds. The post holder is expected to contribute to the weekly Isolation ward MDT, which is supported by the Infection Control Team and Gastroenterologist.
