Are you an enthusiastic, highly motivated Cardiac Physiologist looking to expand your experience in Invasive Cardiology/Arrhythmia management? Do you want to maximise your potential and develop in a busy, tertiary centre?
We are looking for an experienced, heart-rhythm accredited Cardiac Physiologist to join our expanding arrhythmia team, based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. We are a tertiary, cardiology centre offering a full complement of specialised services including transplantation/VAD service, adult congenital heart disease, inherited cardiac conditions and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy to name a few.

The successful candidate will provide support to the Head of Cardiac Implantable Devices and Head of Invasive Cardiology in the operational management of the service. They will also act as a lead physiologist for cardiac device implantation and follow up along with supporting the education and training of junior staff in the service.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to work as an independent practitioner in cardiac device implantation and follow up as well as invasive cardiology. This includes the follow up, implantation and extraction of loop recorders, pacemakers, ICD's and CRT. We routinely work with devices including: SICD, EV-ICD, leadless and conduction system pacing. The candidate must possess good communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The successful applicant must hold a BSc in Clinical Physiology/Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology), MSc in Cardiac Science or equivalent; demonstrate a commitment to training and able to participate in on-call duties. Post graduate certification in devices and or electrophysiology (BHRS/EHRA/IBHRE) is required. HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist is desirable.
There will be opportunities to multi-skill through the various sub-specialties within Cardiac Physiology and therefore gain valuable experience.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* BSc in Clinical Physiology (Cardiology), BSC Healthcare Science Cardiac Physiology (PTP), MSc Cardiac Science (STP) or equivalent academic achievement ratified by RCCP/ACHS.
* Evidence of continuing professional development and proficiency in accordance with RCCP/ACHS/HCPC guidelines.
* British Heart Rhythm accreditation, IBHRE, EHRA or equivalent in Cardiac Implantable Devices.
* Teaching or assessing qualification.
* Leadership and management qualification
* British Heart Rhythm accreditation or equivalent in Cardiac Electrophysiology
Experience
* Significant post qualification experience in Cardiac Implantable Devices and Electrophysiology
* Experience in provision of training and education
* Successful completion of device/electrophysiology logbook or accreditation
* Experience working with surgical/epicardial pacing.
* Experience and involvement in clinical research
* Experienced in the implantation of ILR's
Additional Criteria
* Able to support the 24 hours on call service.
* Physically able to move equipment, handle patients and respond to emergency situations including the ability to perform CPR
* Ability to participate in 7 day working
