Job Description: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing the financial aspects of high-value commercial construction projects. You will ensure cost control, maximize project profitability, and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders while adhering to the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Financial Management:
Prepare, manage, and maintain project budgets, ensuring accuracy and cost-effectiveness.
Monitor and control project costs throughout the lifecycle of the project.
Conduct regular financial reviews and prepare detailed cost reports.
Contract Management:
Review and manage contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
Administer subcontracts, including procurement, valuations, and final accounts.
Identify and resolve contractual issues, including claims and variations.
Tendering and Procurement:
Prepare tender documentation and evaluate subcontractor bids.
Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve best value.
Manage procurement schedules and ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with project managers, clients, and design teams to ensure alignment on project goals.
Attend and contribute to project meetings, providing accurate financial updates.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and subcontractors.
Risk Management:
Identify and assess potential project risks, developing mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and best practices.Requirements:
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with at least 5 years in a senior role within the construction industry, preferably building envelope systems.
Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC).
Proficiency in cost estimation, budgeting, and financial management.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as MS Excel, CostX, or similar.
