As our Wellbeing Officer, you will work with a range of individuals to provide wellbeing support and events to students.
This is a fun, dynamic role that offers an experienced individual the opportunity to frame and develop the current support offering.
The role is being offered on a part-time basis, due to budgetary restraints. The part-time hours are set at 21.5 per week; however, there is flexibility on when you work those hours, just let us know what works for you.
Job Responsibilities
* Work collaboratively with other members of the College and the student Combination Room (CR) Officers, particularly those with a wellbeing remit, to promote student wellbeing.
* Provide support to the Student Civic Engagement Coordinator & CR with their events as needed. Identify barriers to students in accessing wellbeing support and develop strategies to overcome them.
* Engage with students across a variety of platforms, including social media, to promote student wellbeing and signpost to additional sources of support in line with College policies and procedures and best practice.
* Take a proactive approach to embedding wellbeing and mental health resilience into the student experience by providing workshops and resources that support students in developing a mindful approach to studying.
* Respond to emergency situations from students experiencing mental health crises and, in conjunction with other college staff, ensure those students are referred to the most appropriate source of immediate and ongoing support (college, university, or NHS services).
What We Need
The successful candidate will be tech-savvy, with experience working in a busy, multi-cultural environment. They will have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt personal style in line with key stakeholders. Excellent time management and organisational skills are needed for this busy role, which often has conflicting priorities.
* For this role to be successful, the incumbent must be accessible to students; this will include working evenings and weekends when the students are around more, however, flexibility will always be accommodated where possible. Because of this working pattern, the successful candidate will need to be able to work with minimum supervision and be confident making decisions in the absence of the Director of Student Wellbeing, as well as understanding when to escalate matters. They will work in a multidisciplinary team together with the Director of Student Wellbeing, Student Civic Engagement Coordinator, College Nurse, and Mental Health Practitioner.
The Successful Candidate Must Have:
* Relevant experience in providing wellbeing and disability advice and support, ideally in a university or Further Education setting.
* Knowledge and behaviours that support equality, diversity, and inclusivity.
* Knowledge and behaviours that support safeguarding and data protection compliance as applicable to the role.
