We are looking for Band 3 Peer Support Worker (22.5 hours per week) to join our Adult Inpatient Team on Haytor Ward in Torbay.
The role involves bringing lived experience into clinical teams providing valuable insights into contributing to people's recovery from mental health challenges.
We will support you to learn the peer support work skills you need to thrive in the role. We will offer you a comprehensive induction, training and development support you need to begin a fulfilling career. In return, you will need to be motivated, flexible and keen to learn.
Devon Partnership NHS Trust is growing as we establish ourselves as one of the leading providers of mental health services in the country.
Working as part of Devon Partnership NHS Trust, you will make a difference to people's lives from the moment you start.
Main duties of the job
You will have experience of mental illness and recovery; skills in communicating in a respectful, mutually understanding way are essential. Interacting with patients and their families, you will be confident in giving non-clinical information and advice that improves their recovery and experience. Dealing with sensitive information daily, you will understand the importance of data security.
You will often work under some degree of pressure and without direct supervision, so we are looking for someone with confidence to work independently. You will prioritise tasks and manage your own workload, providing support for your colleagues where required.
You will become an important part of the team, working to ensure that every patient receives high-quality care. You may be required to support the induction of new staff members, sharing what your role entails.
