Role Description:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Data Analyst II to join the Rides Data Science & Analytics team, owning the design and delivery of data analytics solutions, from ideation to implementation.
Your role will involve preparing and analysing data, applying statistical methods and modeling to solve business problems, and maintaining high data quality. Your focus will be on delivering customer insights in many forms, whilst taking a systematic approach to create useful data sets that enable advanced analysis as well as measuring success of initiatives, products and business changes.
At Rides, we are in an exciting phase of our data modernisation journey. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data landscape, ensuring all data points, from transactional to behavioural, are captured efficiently and robustly, fitting seamlessly into the wider Booking.com data ecosystem, and taking it to the next level to generate actionable insights.
You will leverage your business understanding and expertise in data, workflows, methods and tools to independently drive analysis and reporting. Collaborating with stakeholders across Rides Data, Product, and Engineering teams, you will deliver scalable, reproducible, and long-term solutions in areas such as reporting, visualisation, and using data to influence business decisions while solving some of the most interesting challenges at Booking.com.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Responsible for working autonomously on consuming data, preparing it for analytical use, translating business problems to data stories and leveraging input from business stakeholders to determine the right technical solutions to deliver customer value.
2. Responsible for being flexible in adopting existing internal and external Data Analytics approaches, proposing and spotting opportunities to apply new approaches and expanding their technical competencies and their peers’ when a more efficient way presents itself.
3. Responsible for collaborating with peers in related crafts (i.e. Data Engineering), anticipating data needs to ensure smooth progress of their individual projects.
4. Responsible for ensuring quality of their own work by validating it through peer review.
5. Responsible for independently identifying and managing stakeholders in operational, project-based, and managerial roles. Effectively communicates, addresses stakeholder needs, and conveys complex analysis results in a clear manner. Begins to guide junior colleagues in stakeholder engagement.
6. Responsible for acting as a force multiplier for junior peers in the team by actively helping them with their craft through means of coaching, mentoring and setting a good example.
Qualifications & Skills:
1. Proven experience working in Data Analytics roles; advanced degree preferred (Statistics, Econometrics, Applied Mathematics, or similar)
2. Proficiency in coding languages (e.g. Python/Pyspark, SQL, Snowflake) and visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Data Studio)
3. Independence in data management (e.g. workflow, data storage, data quality)
4. Experience in customer behavioural event tracking (e.g. C360, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Adobe Analytics etc.)
5. Experience in Experimentation: A/B (Multivariate) Testing
6. Demonstrates strong ownership, stakeholder management and prioritisation skills.
7. Able to balance the need for accuracy and efficiency
8. Able to distil & relay complex, technical information to a non-technical audience
