Job Description:
As an organisation we recognise the value of a healthy work-life balance. When applying, speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate flexible working, so your work life fits around your home life.
We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates as they are under-represented within the Trust.
Applicants are invited to apply for this consultant radiologist post with a subspecialist interest in Thoracic Radiology. The successful applicant would join a committed and diverse team of 30 consultant radiologists based at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (as part of Universities Bristol and Weston NHS Trust) in the thriving and cosmopolitan city of Bristol.
You will become an integral part of our dedicated team of thoracic radiologists who have developed excellent working relationships with innovative respiratory physicians, thoracic surgeons, oncologists and intensivists. They have a wide variety of clinical interests including lung cancer, ILD, airways disease, TB and cystic fibrosis. We are the South West regional centre for Severe Acute Respiratory failure (SARF) with a 4 bed ECMO service provision.
There will be opportunities to advance any of these interests further, as well as developing interventional techniques such as lung biopsy, pleural drainage and percutaneous wire localisations.
There is a weekly MDT for lung cancer, and weekly general chest clinic-radiology, ILD and ITU (including ECMO) meetings. We are also involved in the Targeted Lung Health Check lung cancer screening programme, for which there is an optional weekly meeting.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide cross sectional imaging reporting and support the various MDTs. They will perform elective biopsies on a 1:3 rota. The post will involve 10-programmed activities (7.5 DCC plus 1.5 SPA and 1.0 for on call). Flexible working patterns are available to the appropriate candidate. A shared office with secretarial support will be provided, as well as home reporting stations.
The appointee will also support general and oncological radiology, assist in the smooth running of the directorate and work with colleagues in the provision of an effective and efficient service. The post will be predominantly based at the Bristol Royal Infirmary in the centre of Bristol, whilst providing some support for the Weston General Hospital site.
