We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Trainer to join our growing team as a Technical Partner. In this key role, you’ll be at the heart of delivering our technical learning and development strategy—supporting electricians, heating engineers, and other specialists across our Services teams.
Reporting to the L&D Manager, you’ll lead the delivery of technical training programmes, ensuring they align with our wider organisational goals and L&D strategy. You’ll take ownership of competency frameworks, develop impactful training initiatives, and support the integration of newly acquired businesses into our existing L&D practices.
As an experienced L&D professional, you’ll be confident managing multiple stakeholders, delivering high-quality learning solutions, and using data to drive continuous improvement. While this is a hybrid role, you’ll need to be flexible and comfortable with occasional travel to sites when required.
Responsibilities:
Competency Skills & Development:
* Assess current and future technical skills needs, ensuring alignment with industry and business goals.
* Define and standardise core competencies, certifications, and L&D practices for technical roles to ensure consistency and cost efficiency.
Training & Apprenticeship Programmes:
* Design, deliver, and improve training programmes (face-to-face, virtual, digital) in collaboration with HR, Compliance, and technical experts, addressing skills gaps and regulatory requirements.
* Enhance onboarding and induction experiences to optimise new starter engagement.
* Leverage the apprenticeship levy to develop structured programmes that support career progression and workforce planning.
Performance Metrics & Stakeholder Management:
* Develop and track KPIs to assess training effectiveness, competency growth, and ROI, providing data-driven insights to enhance L&D impact.
* Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external training providers, ensuring high-quality learning solutions that align with business and regulatory standards.
What you'll need to succeed
We’re looking for a proactive self-starter who’s passionate about building impactful learning and development frameworks from the ground up. With a strong background in L&D, you’ll thrive when designing and delivering effective training, developing engaging content, and fostering strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
You’ll thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment where focus, adaptability, and a solution-oriented mindset are key. Supporting newly acquired service teams, you’ll play a crucial role in aligning their talent and learning strategies to ensure a seamless, positive transition. Your strong communication skills will enable you to engage clearly and confidently with both internal stakeholders and external partners, building trust and driving successful outcomes.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team, make a real difference—ensuring that learning programmes are not only aligned with business goals, but also meaningful and well-received by learners across the organisation.
