We are seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer, working under the Lead Cloud Architect to drive the implementation and optimisation of cloud services for a large Supply Chain ERP transformation, including Oracle Fusion and Azure cloud modernisation. This is a SFIA Level 5 role, requiring hands-on technical expertise in cloud infrastructure, automation, and DevOps methodologies to enable secure and scalable cloud adoption. THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY As the Lead Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for the implementation, automation, and management of cloud services, ensuring the smooth transition of workloads from legacy systems to Oracle Cloud, Azure, and hybrid architectures. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining cloud environments, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. Your role will involve: • Deploy and manage cloud services across Oracle Cloud, Azure, and hybrid environments, supporting the ERP modernisation programme. • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, Ansible, ARM, Bicep, etc, templates to automate cloud provisioning and configuration. • Implement security best practices, IAM policies, encryption, and monitoring, ensuring compliance with ISO 27001, NCSC, and NHS security standards. • Configure VPCs, VPNs, firewalls, and hybrid connectivity solutions to enable secure and efficient cloud operations. • Monitor cloud performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimise cost efficiency using FinOps principles. • Assist in designing and implementing HA, backup, and disaster recovery solutions for critical applications. • Work closely with DevOps engineers, developers, and infrastructure teams to support CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native deployments. • Support the Lead Cloud Architect and Environments Lead in maintaining cloud environments for testing, development, and production. • Provide cloud engineering expertise to resolve incidents, ensuring uptime and operational continuity. Essential Skills & Experience: • Strong experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure automation, and DevOps practices. • Expertise in Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), with hands-on experience in cloud deployment and operations. • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, ARM, Bicep, or CloudFormation. • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, etc). • Strong understanding of networking, security, and hybrid cloud connectivity. • Experience in cloud cost management (FinOps) and performance optimisation. • Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, etc). • Knowledge of cloud identity management (OAuth, SAML, RBAC, IAM, Active Directory). • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and translate cloud requirements into technical solutions. Desirable Skills: • Experience working within a SIAM model, ensuring cloud interoperability across suppliers. • Understanding of supply chain ERP transformation and cloud support for Oracle Fusion. • Familiarity with serverless computing, AI/ML in cloud operations, and cloud observability tools. • Certification in Azure Administrator, Oracle Cloud Engineer. Location: Hybrid – Remote with some travel to on-site (Nottingham) This position is a full time, permanent role and applicants must have (or be able to acquire) BPSS clearance.
