Monday to Thursday: 07:30am – 16:30pm
Friday: 07:30am – 12:30pm
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Factory Planner & Coordinator to take charge of the planning, scheduling, and coordination of manufacturing activities across various departments, including forging, stamping, rumbling, CNC machining, sewing, assembly, and dispatch. This role will also involve procurement duties, inventory management, and supporting New Product Development (NPD).
A strong background in manufacturing processes and financial acumen is essential, as this position will drive efficiencies, manage vendor relationships, and resolve quality issues both internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities:
Factory Planning & Coordination:
* Schedule and manage production to meet internal schedules, strategic inventory levels, and customer demands.
* Provide direction to factory teams, prioritizing activities to ensure smooth product flow.
* Monitor performance and assist in productivity and process improvement initiatives.
* Implement effective planning strategies, including EOQ, min/max, Kanban, MRP, etc., using Epicor ERP systems.
* Regularly communicate with customer service to align production priorities with customer needs.
* Address manufacturing challenges such as staffing, capacity, and equipment downtime.
* Maintain sub-contract supplier relationships and collaborate with the NPD team for assigned product lines.
Purchasing:
* Oversee the flow of procured materials, ensuring optimal inventory levels.
* Negotiate with suppliers to drive cost savings and purchasing productivity.
* Collaborate with the Finance Manager on supplier pricing updates and maintain accurate cost systems.
* Develop efficient procurement guidelines to support inventory goals and supplier performance.
* Resolve any issues related to deliveries, pricing, or quality with suppliers.
Inventory Management:
* Manage inventory to meet strategic targets for both work-in-progress (WIP) and purchased items.
* Handle surplus and obsolete inventory, ensuring appropriate disposition when necessary.
* Align product availability with customer service and inventory objectives.
Reporting & Performance Monitoring:
* Report on key metrics such as inventory days on hand (DOS) and customer service levels.
* Prepare regular updates and reports on deliverables and performance indicators.
Additional Duties:
* Perform any other tasks as assigned to support the overall manufacturing and procurement functions.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in factory planning, procurement, and inventory management.
* Strong financial and negotiation skills.
* Familiarity with ERP systems (Epicor ERP preferred) and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
* Excellent organizational and communication skills to liaise across departments and with suppliers.
