Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join us at Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital in Sittingbourne. This comes at a time of transformation in mental health services under the community mental health framework and will give the successful candidate opportunities to work within mental health together, where new treatment pathways are being set up with different interventions being offered to service users. This role will allow the clinician to focus on delivering these but also develop skills in working with the wider population. The post holder will receive support from an established team and regular supervision.
Main duties of the job
Mental Health Services nationally are undergoing significant transformation under the Community Mental Health Framework.
The role would include being involved in the assessment and management of various mental health conditions. There will be an opportunity to be involved in group work and the delivery of other OT interventions within the service. Training and support will be provided for this.
We also encourage innovative ideas around group work and utilising the voluntary sector in supporting service users with activities of daily living and leisure interests in order to better manage their mental health. Your clinical competence and confidence are important to us, but in equal measure with your genuine kindness and compassion for your colleagues and patients.

To work effectively as a clinician in mental health together+, ensuring that patients referred for assessment experience a smooth pathway through the referral, diagnosis, and treatment process.

Qualification
* Degree in Occupational Therapy and registered with HCPC
Experience
* Experience working in a CMHT or related services
* Experience running groups
* Knowledge of relevant policy and guidance

Induction
KMPT is committed to supporting all new staff, and this includes a comprehensive Induction programme. The programme's duration depends on the role and can be from 2 days to 4 weeks (not always consecutive days).
The Induction programme will provide an excellent opportunity for new staff to meet and engage with KMPT’s subject specialists and include the required training.
The programme may involve some travel to the various training venues across Kent and Medway, the main ones being Canterbury, Maidstone, and Dartford.
