Job Advertisement: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme as a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time position starting in March and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent role depending on performance.
About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will provide critical support to students who face challenges related to their social, emotional, and mental health. This role requires empathy, resilience, and a proactive approach to fostering positive relationships and promoting a nurturing learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them engage in learning activities and develop coping strategies.
- Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to implement personalized support plans and behavioral strategies.
- Assist in de-escalating challenging situations, maintaining a calm and positive atmosphere in the classroom.
- Support the development of students' social skills, self-esteem, and emotional regulation.
- Monitor and record students' progress, providing regular feedback to staff and parents as needed.
- Help create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Contribute to the wider school community by participating in staff meetings, training sessions, and extracurricular activities.
