Job Overview
The Medicine Division are inviting applications from experienced and ambitious candidates for the role of General Manager, and Divisional Lead for UEC Improvement, to join our 'front door' specialty teams. We are looking for a hard-working individual who is enthusiastic and committed to delivering exceptional patient care.
The post-holder will lead the operational aspects of the specialties across the 'front door', including Emergency Medicine, Acute Medicine and Mental Health Liaison, working closely with other members of the triumvirates - Specialty Consultant Leads and Matrons. The successful individual will use continuous service improvement to deliver the strategic objectives and recovery plan for our patients.
The successful candidate will have experience of providing operational service management and developing others. They will have excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with patients, and internal and external colleagues.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a key member of the Divisional Management Team and accountable for managing the services across the front door at Southmead Hospital. There is opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the wider Trust and Group, including teams at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston.
The emphasis of this post is working closely with the clinical staff and administrative teams to ensure strong leadership and operational management, in order to meet the objectives and performance targets for the specialties within Cluster 1. The role has a strong emphasis on recovering our non-elective performance and improvement across urgent and emergency care pathways.
The post holder will work closely with the Divisional Management Team to ensure the delivery of effective and high-quality clinical services and the achievement of both strategic objectives and relevant performance targets. As part of the Division’s management team, the post holder will contribute fully to the overall management and development of the Medicine Division within North Bristol NHS Trust.
The post holder will be expected to provide leadership for people management, in order to recruit and retain high quality staff, provide effective appraisal and team working and strong staff involvement in decision making within the sphere of responsibility.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
* The General Manager will:
* Have responsibility for the delivery of key critical performance issues within Cluster 1 specialities.
* Work closely with the Specialty Leads, Clinical Director, Divisional Operations Director, Matrons and Divisional Director of Nursing to ensure high levels of service, quality and performance in the delivery of key objectives.
* Be an active member of the Divisional team in terms of overall service development and strategic plans.
* Ensure the delivery of high quality clinical services in line with the Trust’s Organisational Objectives.
* Establish sound performance management arrangements.
* Liaise with independent sector providers where appropriate.
* Deputise for Divisional Operations Director as required.
* Participate in the manager of the day rota within Division.
* Participate in the planning and management of capital projects, as required.
* Participate in the Trust management on-call rota.
