Job Description
About Us
Martian Lawyers Club (MLC) is pushing gameplay past current limitations to unlock new levels of video game personalisation. We want our games to do what is only possible in the world of tabletop RPGs: indefinite personalisation and creativity. We believe that players shouldn’t be forced to pick between the immersive power of video games and the ability to make unconstrained choices that can be found in pen-and-paper experiences.
Our first game GUG (free demo: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2824790/GUG/ ) is a PC roguelike creature-battler, inspired by games like Inscryption and Pokemon. It uses our proprietary technology built on recent AI breakthroughs to allow the player to mould the evolution of the game’s creatures, effectively having the play session mod itself on the go. This modding goes beyond simple reskins, tapping directly into the DNA of GUG (its code) and adapting that as part of the core gameplay loop. The resulting experience allows the player to be more tightly involved in the creative process.
We are a small team of game developers, designers, programmers, and researchers, who have come together to utilise our skills in a meaningful way. Our team totals five members across three cities so far.
Responsibilities
What you’ll do from day to day:
* Organize our marketing operations, including tools, channels, target personas and their gathering places
* Improve our promotional assets, such as GUG’s Steam page and promotional trailers, to best highlight the game’s unique selling points
* Work alongside the game development team to propose features that improve GUG’s marketability
* Establish a scalable creator program for influencers and content creators
* Develop a longer-term test plan to identify the marketing that works best with MLC’s games
* Manage our game’s community to increase engagement and retention
About You
Desired qualifications and experience:
* 3+ years in a marketing role in the gaming industry
* Ability to execute marketing strategies efficiently at scale
* Proven ability to grow the userbase of a studio’s first game
* Knowledge of gaming market segmentation frameworks and taxonomies
* Ability to identify problems proactively and communicate those to others
It’s okay if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’d still love to hear from you if what we are building interests you.
What We Offer
We’re big believers in personal responsibility. You will be given the freedom to make your own choices, as you often will be the person who understands your area best. But with great responsibility also comes great power! Joining us this early means you are sure to have a massive impact on the direction the company takes.
Our work environment is dynamic, a mixture of in-person and remote, and gives you the space to learn from your mistakes (of which we expect many!). It is also important to say that your day-to-day work will continuously change, so be prepared to get out of your comfort zone often.
Application Process
We look at every application we receive and aim to reply as quickly as feasible.
The interview process consists of:
* A 15-minute introductory call with one of the founders
* A take home task that takes about 3 hours to complete
* A 1 hour online interview
* A final, onsite interview in Bristol
After this we send our final offer decision.
