Senior TB Specialist Nurse
Band 7
Job overview
You will lead the TB Service as part of the South Infectious Diseases team which forms part of the Infectious Diseases Managed Single Service at MFT. You will be based at Wythenshawe Hospital. However, there may be occasions that you are asked to work from other MFT sites. You will have a high degree of autonomy, manage your own clinic caseload, possess excellent communication skills, and ideally have experience in caring for patients with complex care needs. You will be responsible for your own clinics and have line management responsibility for the TB team. This is an exciting opportunity of a 12-month secondment (within MFT) or fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.
Main duties of the job
The TB service at Wythenshawe covers the South Manchester postcode, seeing a range of 20-30 new active TB patients a year. The nursing team also manage their own nurse-led clinic with around 100 new referrals per year. They are based in the hospital setting but support areas with mass screening and community support where needed. They also work closely with related community settings including workplace settings, hotels supporting those seeking asylum, and homelessness services. This requires working in community settings at times. The TB nursing team also support the TB clinics, coordinate the TB MDT, and work with relevant agencies including the UK Health Security Agency in line with TB control guidelines.
