Job Overview
The post holder will be a proactive and enthusiastic communications professional, looking for a fulfilling role at the heart of a busy NHS Trust.
As a communications and engagement officer, you’ll play an active role in the communications team, supporting trust-wide internal and external communications with a varied portfolio including design work, content-creation, campaigns, projects, and events.
You will help to deliver engaging and concise internal and external communications to a range of audiences and assist in building vital relationships - whether that’s with colleagues at NBT, key stakeholders in health and social care, the media or with patients.

Main duties of the job
* To support the creation and distribution of regular internal communications - editing copy, prioritising content and producing designed, engaging updates.
* Take on a supporting role with Trust-wide internal and external communication campaigns or projects. This will involve working closely with other teams across the Trust and creating all content needed.
* To play an active role in the planning and facilitation of events (online or face-to-face).
* Design and edit a range of physical and online content including Trust documents, social media posts, graphics, videos or posters.
* Creating and managing content and activity on all Trust social media platforms to promote NBT as a place of care and a great place to work, strengthening the overall brand.
* Plan, brief, film and edit videos for internal and external audiences, ensuring accessibility needs are met and delivering high quality content that is easy for the audience to understand and engage with.
* Providing administrative support to deliver key functions in the team, including answering queries via phone or email from Trust staff, members of the public, the media and partner organisations in a timely and efficient manner.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
* Assist with reactive media enquiries through drafting comments, and support members of the team with proactive media opportunities via press releases and facilitating interviews – working with the communications officers and head of communications. Using this activity to identify opportunities for social media content.
* Act as a point of contact for the media, receiving enquiries and ensuring they are prioritised, logged and dealt with appropriately.
* Monitor team activity to create regular reports on communications campaigns and social media activity, bringing new ideas on strategies moving forward.
* Produce written communications for, and disseminate to, internal and external audiences, including staff bulletins, stakeholder updates, website & intranet copy. This will involve researching content, interviewing staff, drafting, and editing copy, seeking the necessary approvals, proof-reading, and taking photographs/ videos.
* Support key communications activity including VIP visits and award entries, strengthening the reputation of the Trust.
* To work collaboratively with colleagues in the department in providing general support where necessary and building networks with others in the Trust to enable the work of the communications team.
* To help identify new areas, opportunities, and methods of communications with internal and external audiences.
* May be required, at periods of high operational demand, to support the communications team with business-critical activity encompassing internal and external communications. The opportunity for development as part of the communications on-call rota can be discussed.
* Ensure professionalism in all communication over the telephone and face-to-face.
* Ensure written information is easy to understand, well written and accurate.
* Ensure visual communications are clear, easy to understand and engaging.
* To share information in an appropriate, timely and accurate manner across a range of platforms.
* To work within the Trust’s social media policy and guidelines.
* Work in partnership with all healthcare professionals; maintain effective communication that benefits patient and staff well-being, and strengthens overall confidence in the Trust.
