Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity to coordinate and develop our Statutory Pathways Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) service. This role offers the opportunity for you to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children, young people, and their families by ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care.
Due to a secondment, we are seeking to recruit 0.5 WTE Band 7 Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Integrated Children and Young Peoples Therapy Service as Speech and Language Therapy - Statutory Team Lead. This role also includes an opportunity to line manage and team lead other pathways within our School Aged and Statutory Pathway as required.
You will have the opportunity to influence the delivery of high quality, evidence-based interventions for children and young people in Bucks.
Main duties of the job
As a key member of our integrated therapy service, you will work closely with Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Team Leads to provide a cohesive and high-quality service. You will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of SALT services for children and young people across a variety of settings, ensuring their needs are met in line with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
In this role, you will:
* Lead and coordinate the delivery of SALT services within statutory pathways.
* Support and mentor junior team members, providing guidance under the direction of the Operational Lead for SALT.
* Develop resources and training materials to empower school staff and other professionals in supporting children with communication difficulties.
* Contribute to service development through evidence-based projects focused on improving SALT services for school-aged children.

Person specification
Education, Qualification and Training
* Recognised Speech & Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
* Health Professions Council License to Practice
* Evidence in understanding and postgraduate training within the client group
* Degree or Diploma (Therapy)
* Professional registration with HCPC.
* Member of relevant professional body e.g. RCSLT, RCOT, CPS.
* Comprehensive post registration therapy experience
* Registered Member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists
Experience
* Evidence of experience relevant to the client group
* Working knowledge of SEND Code of Practice
* Demonstrates well established knowledge of national policies and procedures relevant to client group
* At least six years’ experience of working as a therapist
* Experience of acting as mentor – coach – preceptor - supervisor
* Evidence of professional updating
* Experience of leadership and staff management
* Evidence of working in a multidisciplinary manner
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
* Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of clinical governance/audit
* Demonstrates a high standard of record keeping
* Has good auditory and perceptual skills
* Demonstrates well established knowledge of specialist SLT assessment tools relevant to the client group.
* Ability to communicate clearly with young People and their families and MDT team in English
* High motivation and ability to motivate others
* Ability to work within a team and independently
* Insight into local, regional and Government initiatives relating to speech and language therapy
* Good verbal and written communication skills to enable liaison with others and to produce concise written reports and notes.
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
* Ability to work county wide
* Hold a valid driving licence
