SEN 1.1 TEACHING ASSISTANT
Job Description:
SMART Education are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to work within an Ofsted rated good school in Worcester, starting from the 4th September 2024. The school requires a teaching assistant with prior experience and knowledge in supporting pupils with additional needs to provide one-on-one support to a student joining their Reception class in the upcoming academic year.
The teaching assistant must have prior experience supporting students with additional needs, as the pupil needing one-on-one support is nonverbal and currently undergoing an Autism diagnosis. The school prefers candidates who have previously worked with young children facing similar challenges, ensuring that the new team member can confidently meet the pupil's needs and provide enriching experiences tailored to their abilities and challenges.
This position will commence from the 4th September 2024, on a part-time basis to begin with, working afternoons each day of the week.
Responsibilities:
* Provide individualized support with your assigned pupil, ensuring their individual educational and developmental needs are met.
* Modify and adapt learning materials and resources to suit the pupil's specific learning style and needs.
* Implement and follow behaviour management strategies tailored to the pupil's needs, promoting a positive and conducive learning environment.
* Utilize appropriate communication methods, including non-verbal communication tools, to interact effectively with your assigned pupil.
* Monitor and record the pupil's progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents, SENCO & outside agencies who provide support for the pupil and family.
* Support the implementation of the pupil's individualized education plan or any other personalized learning plans.
* Aid with personal care tasks, to ensure the pupil's comfort and well-being.
* Ensure the pupil's safety, supervising them during classroom activities, breaks and any other school events.
Requirements:
* Level 2 or 3 teaching assistant/ childcare learning and development applicants lacking the relevant qualification will not be considered.
* At least 6+ months experience within the Primary School setting environment - applicants lacking the required experience will not be considered.
* Experience supporting pupils with additional needs.
* DBS on the update service (we can process one for you)
* Safeguarding trained (we offer free CPD)
* Prevent trained (we offer free CPD)
* Classroom TA / LSA / 1:1 experience
* SEN experience/ knowledge/ additional CPD
Salary: GBP85.00+ a day
Hours: Monday and Friday (afternoons, part time)
