Position Overview: We are looking for highly skilled and experienced Protection Design Engineers to join our UK team. Working at Principal or Technical Director level, you will provide crucial support to our Australian business and will be at the forefront of designing and delivering cutting-edge protection systems for key energy projects. Collaborating closely with our Power group, multi-disciplinary teams, and valued clients, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of power systems. Key Responsibilities: Cross-Regional Collaboration: Work closely with our Australian business, ensuring seamless project execution under our global service delivery model. Design & Calculation Mastery: Prepare settings calculations and relay settings files, ensuring they meet the highest industry standards. Substation Expertise: Design and engineer protection and substation secondary systems for power transmission systems, leading the preparation of secondary designs, detailed reports, specifications, and comprehensive project tender documents. Client Engagement: Work directly with clients and contractors to define and meet project requirements, providing clarity and direction from tendering through to project completion. Technical Leadership: Provide high-level technical and construction support, ensuring smooth project execution and delivery. Proposal Development: Scope, prepare, and present compelling proposals that align with client needs and business objectives. Team Collaboration: Partner with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, leveraging collective expertise to deliver integrated solutions. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, underpinned by deep technical knowledge and practical experience. A solid 7-15 years of experience in a consulting or power utilities environment, with a focus on power utility protection design and IED settings Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed engineering decisions Knowledge of transmission system protection schemes for voltages from 11kV to 500kV Sound understanding of industry codes and standards related to power Proven expertise in producing settings files for relays from all major protection relay manufacturers, coupled with experience in power system modeling using software such as Digsilent Power Factory A thorough understanding of protection schemes and IEC61850, ensuring your designs are both innovative and compliant Benefits: Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
