The Salvation Army, Histon shop operates a busy charity shop, which works to meet the needs of the local community and to raise funds for the work of the corps. We are looking to appoint a Relief Assistant Charity Shop Manager who will ensure the safe and effective management of the shop and will work to further the mission of The Salvation Army.
Key Responsibilities:
The post-holder in the absence of the Charity Shop Manager will assist with the running of the shop and assume responsibility for the management of the shop in the absence of the Manager. These duties will include managing staff and volunteers. Key responsibilities will include; ensuring the highest standards of customer care, assisting in the management of the daily operation of the shop including stock management and housekeeping, managing the security and accounting of cash, health and safety issues, administrative tasks, and the recruitment, training and supervision of volunteers.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
1. Proven interpersonal skills
2. Previous experience in a charity shop/retail environment and in managing staff and/or volunteers
3. Ability to work on their own initiative and in a team
4. Enjoy working with people and the ability to be able to deal tactfully with staff, volunteers and the public
5. Understanding the needs of customers
6. Basic proficiency in Maths and English
7. Commitment to the values, aims and ethos of The Salvation Army
