Job Details: Job Summary: The Administrator Information Systems will develop, implement and maintain complete IT solutions, including their hardware infrastructure (such as servers and networks) and software (such as operating systems, middleware and applications). The role holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary “DevOps” style team, carrying-out the full set of stages across the whole solution lifecycle: requirements gathering, solution development, testing, implementation and ongoing support. The role holder will be expected to apply a professional methodology or framework to gather and analyze requirements; to design, develop, test, and implement IT solutions and to provide ongoing support both directly to end users and for the underlying IT services. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for the administration of the CATS Metrix system. Maintain, repair, upgrade, update, archive/restore all CATS software. Administer application software. Assumes the role of Duty System Administrator when work practices dictate a shift rosta is required. Maintain and administer SQL databases as required. Monitor and, when required, install networks including VLAN setup. Maintain, fault find and rectify computer systems hardware. Administer Microsoft Windows Operating Systems. Maintain, update, upgrade systems software as required. Monitor security, carry out system builds, archive/restore. Hardware/Software configuration and installation. Maintenance of COTS and bespoke applications. Administer and maintain Active Directory Servers on PC based systems. Ensure network integrity of PC based systems. Ensure correct and safe procedures are carried out on all systems. Enforce security policies on networks and sub-networks as required and update these polices when necessary. Support AWES/TES (when required) Interpret calls for fire, Artillery, Rockets, Mortars, Air and NBC. Operate IT system to provide the desired effects within equipment and weapon limitations. Communicate with military staff / operate communication systems. Be prepared to travel to support the company when so requested, acting in the capacity as advised. Support deployments of Deployable AWES system in a role consistent with their role filled at AWES SPTA or within reasonable expectation, given the level of skills, training and experience held. Assisting with the implementation of legislation, policies and standards that apply to CDUK IT solutions. Carrying-out Information Systems engineering in accordance with ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) best practice. Applying a professional methodology or framework in work tasks. Operating in line with organisational polices, standards, legislation, security requirements, professional ethics, privacy and confidentiality; and understands escalation policies. Maintaining hard and soft copy documentation in accordance with best practice, organisational guidance and legislation. Minimum Job Requirements: Skills knowledge and experience: Experience in the role of Computer System Administrator Knowledge of the Fundamentals of Networking and server environments Experience of Desktop Support to Windows clients and Microsoft Office Suite Experience of Active Directory Environment Experience of working with Virtual Machines Knowledge of Windows Server and SQL Experience of Network hardware Ability to fault find and recognize potential system failures and organize/perform remedial action Ability to interpret technical documentation and line diagrams Must be able to be security vetted to SC level Diagnose and understand customer requirements and problems using sound analytical and problem-solving skills Communicate effectively in a variety of situations including formal and informally both within their team and externally. Be able to set up and use Satellite communication system Experience of Network Design at local level Ability to write technical procedures ESD Trained Basic understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace Cyber security training or experience. Education and qualifications Applicants are expected to have 5 GCSEs (A-C); other relevant qualifications or experience will be considered. In addition, the applicant is expected to be: Microsoft technician qualifications or have sufficient vocational experience to be capable of undertaking the role. Personal Qualities The role may require work (with notice) outside of normal hours (including weekends). Time off in Lieu will be provided as far as is reasonably possible. Needs to be willing to work outdoors on occasions. The role may require occasional work while travelling, which could be globally.
