The post holder will lead practice development and education within theclinical workforce through work based learning, training, clinicalsupport, and program design, supporting nursing staff, associates,HCSWs, and students at Rotherham Hospice.
They will ensure clinical staff maintain skills and knowledge to deliverexceptional end of life and specialist palliative care. As a role model,they will provide high quality nursing care and promote best practices toenhance patient outcomes.
Working with the Training and DevelopmentManager, they will help create a productivelearning environment and collaborate withsenior staff to deliver tailored induction anddevelopment programs
Main duties of the job
Deliver training sessions, which are reflective of the hospices policies andprocedures. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate to improve and ensure theprovision of high quality clinical skills training, under direction and supervisionof the Training and Development Manager.
Ensure the process of clinical skills teaching and assessment is based onprocedure learning supervised practice and assessment.
Deliver simulated practical clinical skills sessions, relating theory to practice forstudents and learners, Nursing Associates, Nurses, and other members of themultidisciplinary team, within the organisation, using inter-personal skills andeffective communication to overcome any barriers to learning under directionof the Training and Development Manager.
As part of the assessment process, observe staff undertaking clinical skillsprocedures in the clinical environment.

* Support in the development and delivery of the train the trainers courses, toenable the appropriate qualified staff to undertake clinical skills updates.
* Maintain a duty and responsibility to comply with all components of theHospices Data Quality and information risk policies, ensuring compliance withany specific role responsibilities outlined within these.
* Personal identifiabledata must be kept safe, secure, and confidential, and only shared withauthorised personnel.
* Undertake the registered nurses and Health care support workers duties androles as required within the clinical setting, always acting in accordance withthe NMC professional code of conduct and within the range of the postholdersskills and knowledge.
* Responsibility as supervisor/assessor for pre-registration nursing students andTNAs, whilst they are on placement.
* Assist in audits following ethical guidelines and principles as agreed by theHospice and to apply the data to the future planning of end of life careservices.
* In all aspects of your work, you have a duty and a responsibility to comply withall components of the Hospices infection control policy, ensuring compliancewith specific role responsibilities outlined within this policy.
* You have joint responsibility with your manager for ensuring that youundertake the mandatory training requirements for your own role.

Qualifications
* Experience of performing clinical skills such as PICC
* lines, IV additives & Bolus, female, and male
* Working in multi-disciplinary team setting.
* Previous experience as a Registered Nurse within a
* palliative care setting or ability to demonstrate
* Supervision and support of staff or students within a
* clinical setting.
* Teaching and assessment of staff and/or students in
* mandatory training competence and compliance.
* Experience of performing clinical skills such as
* venepuncture, cannulation.
* Experience of delivering moving and handling, and
* Basic life support training.
* Experience of planning and facilitating teaching
* sessions.
