About the role Based in our offices in Chelmsford we are looking for a focused sales leader to drive the growth and development of our unified communications division. This role requires a tenacious approach to client development and a desire to lead by example as you deliver increases in revenue from the existing client base and by converting incoming sales enquiries. Our team works with businesses across the globe delivering unified communications, networking and connectivity solutions, representing global market leaders in the UK. Our company has been established in its current structure since 2018, and as a leading distributor of cutting edge technology we are proud to have shown rapid growth from an annual turnover of £10.8 million in 2018 to £20 million in 2022. We provide essential services to UK infrastructure to ensure that our customers keep pace with the global markets in terms of connectivity. With a vision to continue on this path with significant investment and an aggressive plan for the next 5 years we are looking for a Head of Sales who will fully oversee our sales department from our most junior to our most senior members of staff. By quickly understanding our core client base and working practices, you will set KPI’s and targets, analyse patterns of buying behaviours and set well informed strategies to increase and optimise the department's performance. A background in Tech is desirable and the ability to negotiate both on purchase and sale is a must as you build strategies to secure our relationships with our suppliers and customers. Our Head of Sales will have a track record in developing customer centric successful teams. With the ability to develop clear Business Development and Account Management strategies you will take up the challenge of training and developing our team to reach their full potentials with a view to growth and expansion of the department in the future. Key responsibilities include: Leadership Develop weekly/monthly/annual sales targets for the department. Examine growth opportunities & enable sales improvements. Manage the departmental calendar in regard to trading priorities inclusive of launches, promotions, exclusives, and campaign activities for the purpose of maximising sales opportunities Introduce new brands and categories to the market by leading the sales team in product launches Establish and oversee the adoption of departmental vision and values, which forms part of the work culture Play a mentorship role to key positions within the sales department, assisting in the execution of duties upon request, honing the teams professional skills, and readying them for future progression. The ability to engage your team to achieve their full potential will be pivotal to the success of the department. Strategy Implement effective sales strategies that further the department’s agenda and drives enhanced revenue generation for the business Deliver an optimised market mix relative to the core target consumers and identify the roadmap that will lead to achievement of the department’s goals as well as the overall goals of the business Create and implement sales action plans that incorporate key actions that work to set KPI’s for the business. Analytics Undertake detailed analyses of sales performance for the purpose of reporting sales strategy successes, weaknesses, and opportunities to the board. Identify areas of improvement in sales strategies and with a view of establishing actionable insights for the improving of sales and business profits. Collaboration Work with Marketing in creating product intelligence, for example, product/brand adjacencies, affinities, display rules, conducting trend analysis, and ensuring that these are aligned to support and drive sales and conversion. Monitor the development of the business’s new portfolio additions from its conceptualisation through to its testing and launch and, therefore, carefully understand the product, making it easy to tailor unique strategies around that product Process relevant data and information, translating it into actionable strategies that drive sales and lead to achievement of targets Partner with the Board and other senior managers for administrative purposes, for example, the development of plans, strategies, structure, budget, vision, and establishment of goals for the department. Knowledge/Relationships/Opportunity Manage key relationships on behalf of the business both internally and externally. Build strong relationships with the external partners and consumers and regularly interact with them by attending sales workshops, seminars and hosting sales events, playing an active role in industry organisations and so forth. Through these efforts, establish the business as a market and thought leader and open up avenues for identification of potential opportunities for sales and revenue generation. Conduct regular and consistent research on the latest market best practices and trends in order to constantly keep the business at par or even ahead of other players and driving greater sales resulting from securing a greater market share. Other Duties: The Head of Sales also performs other duties deemed necessary for the execution of their duties and duties as assigned by the Board. Skills Required: Exceptional communication skills are especially important in enabling effective communication between your interactions with consumers and external partners Communication skills are also absolutely necessary for the Head of Sales when it comes to drafting reports and making presentations to consumers, senior sales management, stakeholders, or external partners. You must be able to tailor messages in relation to the audience at hand and to present even the most complex messages in clear, simple, digestible, and convincing terms. These skills must be excellent in both written and verbal form. You must demonstrate high proficiency in Ms Word, PowerPoint, and Excel which are necessary for the creating both visually and verbally engaging reports and presentations for the senior sales management, junior sales personnel, external partners, collaborating personnel, and relevant stakeholders.
