An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an individual that has an interest in waste management, minimisation and environmental impact to deliver changes within the NHS.
The post holder will work closely with the Waste/Environmental Officer to deliver changes set out in the Trust's Waste Action Plan through active auditing, implementation, monitoring and support.
You will need to be dynamic, strategic, self-motivated and a team player to help deliver the goals required to recover, reduce and improve compliance in waste management.
You have some knowledge of or an interest in developing knowledge of Healthcare, National waste legislation including guidance, in order to assist others with the implementation of the Trust's Waste Action Plan.
A basic understanding of or interest in how waste management falls in line with NHS Green Plan and Net-carbon Zero would be beneficial, but not essential.
You will assist with the delivery of systems to support the analytical and reporting requirements of waste management.
The post is fixed for 18 months full time role, Monday to Friday.
It could be a secondment opportunity for staff interested in developing.
The role will involve working across multiple sites and locations so the post holder will be required to hold a full driving licence and have their own vehicle to travel across sites.
Main duties of the job
To assist the Waste/Environmental Officer to develop and encourage good practices in waste management and disposal.
To support the Waste/Environmental Officer in implementing and delivering the Waste Action Plan for the Trust.
To undertake auditing and monitoring across the Trust against agreed specifications, such as key performance indicators (KPIs).
To input data and provide reports for areas monitored to enable any remedial action to be undertaken.

Job responsibilities
Waste
Actively carry out audits of waste streams being generated within the trust, summaries and report back any findings to the Waste/Environmental Officer.
Achieve optimal waste prevention, minimisation and economy through active auditing and implementing solutions with support & leadership of the Waste/Environmental Officer.
Be environmentally aware of any legislative changes to enable effective liaison with other departments.
Assist in the production of annual reports through data collation and analysis.
Assist in the review of Clinical, Domestic & Recycling systems capable of servicing the Trust's needs in collaboration with the Waste/Environmental Officer.
Assist in the delivery of waste prevention and environmental initiatives.
Compliance
Assist the Waste/Environmental Officer in the development of local systems and processes to facilitate the collection, analysis and reporting of Facilities information.
Assist in the calculation of Waste information for the completion of the Estates Returns Information Collection (ERIC), Premises Assured Model (PAM) and Model Hospital.
Communications and Working Relationships
To provide and receive routine information which requires tact and persuasive skills and where there may be barriers to understanding e.g. liaising with a diverse range of colleagues Trust wide and external Stakeholders.
Maintain good communication links with staff across the Trust.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* NVQ or higher in environmental or similar level education.
* Good standard of education.
* Understanding of Waste and Environmental challenges.
Experience
* Experience of developing and maintaining databases.
* Experience of collecting and analysing data.
* Experience of producing and interpreting complex data/reports/dashboards.
* 1 years' experience in similar role or equivalent specialist knowledge.
* Experience of reporting and presenting data.
Skills
* Evidence of a working knowledge of MS Office.
* Ability to Plan and Prioritise.
* Excellent interpersonal skills in order to interpret data analysis.
* Ability to produce analytical reports relating to Waste management activities.
