We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Social Worker to work alongside colleagues in East Lothian's Substance Misuse Service within the Esk Centre, Musselburgh.
This particular role takes a multi-disciplinary approach to providing substance misuse intervention to service users with opiate, non-opiate and alcohol misuse difficulties. The service has an ambition to promote recovery and the long term wellbeing that individuals can achieve with the support of the service and from within their local community.
The post holder have knowledge of the drug and alcohol policy context and be able to work with vulnerable adults - including those who have transient and unstable lifestyles. The nature of this post requires a high level of partnership and collaborative working across a range of teams and services.
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of how substance use impacts on clients and the community. They should also be familiar or willing to become familiar with the recovery process that clients in the service go through.
It is important that the post holder has the ability to work with professionals from different agencies e.g. health professionals and voluntary organisations, adult and children social work teams to ensure that the health and social care needs of service users are met through joint assessments and care plans.

Job Requirements
Education/Qualifications
Essential: Approved qualification in Social Work, and SSSC registration.
Those with international Social Work qualifications should not apply unless they are fully registered with the SSSC.
Driving Licence
Full current driving licence and access to a vehicle*

PVG Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
