Job Title: Application Support Engineer
Location: Barrow-in-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.
Salary: From £35,802 per annum
What you’ll be doing:
1. You will be working with applications that are installed on servers but you will also offer knowledge and support on other application aspects.
2. Monitor applications to ensure they are working optimally.
3. Apply any required fixes to failures within applications.
4. Maintain log files and manage the general proactive maintenance and housekeeping of applications.
5. Work alongside our Project teams to support new application implementations, existing application upgrades and the configuration of integrations.
6. Take part in out of hours support for a limited number of applications in the portfolio.
7. Follow ITIL processes for Change Management to ensure that changes are implemented in a controlled manner.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
1. Strong stakeholder engagement and rapport building experience.
2. Have familiar experience of working within ITIL aligned processes - Request, Incident, Problem and Change Management.
3. Experience of Supplier Management and be able to communicate with hosting providers and software vendor support teams.
Desirable:
1. Exposure to Oracle and/or SQL Server databases.
2. Exposure to Unix and Linux.

The Specialist Applications Service team:
By joining the team, you will be working in Application Support, which offers opportunities to understand the wide-ranging applications used by BAE Systems. The team plays a key part in keeping the applications working and therefore ensuring low levels of disruption across the business.
There are wide-ranging technologies involved and a range of exciting work that is diverse and will create interaction opportunities with users in the Business and other support teams. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
