Overview of role:
We’re looking to recruit a Junior Digital Copywriter who will report into the Creative & Content Manager for the timely creation and delivery of a wide range of engaging digital copy for the Halfords Group which includes Stores, Garages and Mobile Experts. All written content created should actively contribute to the overall Customer Experience aims of delighting the customer, increasing engagement, improving conversion and encouraging loyalty.
Working out of the Halfords Content Team, the Junior Digital Copywriter will work day to day with key internal stakeholders to create accurate and engaging SEO optimised content.
You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to manage multiple projects. In terms of experience, you will have at least 1 year (either in-house or Agency), and you will be highly motivated, innovative: a creative thinker with natural enthusiasm and the ability to prioritise and be organised.
With over 1000 stores and garages at Halfords, your words will engage millions of people across the UK. No two days are the same – one day you could be writing social copy for our world famous bike brands and the next, writing FAQs on child travel. Key deliverables:
1. Create, maintain, or rewrite a wide range of SEO optimised copy with a customer first approach, including:
2. Advice Centre Articles
3. Brand Pages
4. Blogs
5. FAQs
6. Category Short Descriptions
7. Video Scripts
8. Product descriptions
9. Store information pages
10. Work with the Senior Copywriter and the Group Content Team in the production and implementation of a holistic website and blog review to ensure consistency in tone and style.
11. Identify new opportunities for content to be created.
12. Be able to conduct competitor audits providing content recommendations to help Halfords dominate each category.
13. Liaise with the marketing, and category teams to obtain any information required to either write new copy or make any changes needed to bring pages up to date.
14. Work closely with the Marketing function, in particular the SEO team, to ensure that all content is fully optimised to maximise effectiveness
15. Establish strong working relationships with relevant cross-functional teams such as brand & marketing to ensure Content is represented and considered throughout the creative process
16. Make certain that all work has been QA tested and approved, working with marketing and category teams to gather any information required and obtain sign off for all copy, ensuring that all work adheres to compliance and brand guidelines. This may even stretch as far as obtaining sign off from external brands.
17. Ensure that any copy deadlines given to you by the business are met. Communicate regularly with departments of relevance and your line manager to update them on your progress.

19. Excellent written and spoken English (perfect spelling and grammar essential)
20. Highly organised with great project management skills, confident in working to tight deadlines
21. Great communication skills, both written and verbal
22. Enthusiastic and driven with a passion for retail
23. Understanding of SEO and use of key words
24. Competent in all Microsoft Office
25. Ideally, you’d have at least 1 year experience in copywriting for businesses, following brand guidelines and their tone of voice with the ability to showcase activity
26. Desirable an interest in cycling and motoring
