We have an opportunity for a Lead Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatre department. Please only apply to this advert if you have significant experience of managing a busy Minor Operations Unit and have experience in all aspects of Endoscopy. This should include supporting JAG. There is both a management and clinical aspect to this role. This is a full- time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern. There is the requirement to be on-call for this role, this is usually for over the phone advice. Duties of this role include: You support, coordinate and actively assist in the management and organisation of care provision within the Endoscopy Unit. You provide quality planned care for patients during their peri-procedure phase of care by delivering quality patient care through appropriate clinical supervision and managerial leadership. You implement best practice standards (HTM 01 – 06, Royal College guidelines, GRS, JAG, etc.) in endoscopy service delivery. You develop and support business initiatives, polices and strategies which improve the service delivered to all our customers. You are responsible for adhering to the departmental decontamination programme for flexible endoscopes. You participate in the completing all departmental risk assessments, COSHH assessments and implementing action plans to address risk. You comply with all relevant mandatory training. Applicants should meet the following criteria: Previous experience as a Senior Registered Practitioner or equivalent in an endoscopy service. Experience and training in pain management, care of the deteriorating patient, care of patient under conscious sedation requiring monitored recovery. Experience of clinical governance and audit. Experience of applying clinical reasoning skills across a range and varied patient case mix and competence across a range of skills, including clinical and decontamination. Evidence of working in partnership with Consultants to explore and challenge existing practices while maintaining and enhancing services and standards. Registration as a Practitioner with NMC or HCPC. Basic and advanced Competence / qualification in Endoscopy Care and Decontamination. Operators and Managers Course in Endoscopy Decontamination. Teaching / Assessing / mentorship qualifications. Knowledge of appropriate standards and external bodies (Care Quality Commission, GRS, JAG, HTM 01 -06). ILS.
