As an Account Manager, you’ll take ownership of customer projects from start to finish — not just selling, but becoming a trusted advisor, problem-solver, and go-to person for our key customers.
This is a high-impact role where you’ll need to think fast, stay organised, and be great with people — from suppliers to our branch teams and other Account Managers. It’s not just about hitting targets (although that’s important!); it’s about building trust, spotting opportunities, to help our customers build.
You’ll have a sales, business development or account management background. You don’t need to come from a builders merchant background, but you do need to be able to hold your own, get stuck in, back yourself and be a self-starter.
Key Responsibilities
* Project Management: Take ownership of customer projects — ensuring materials arrive on time, issues are tackled early, and every detail is covered.
* Customer Relationships: Build and maintain long-term partnerships to help our Customer build, understand their needs and ambitions and offer smart, tailored solutions.
* Business Development: Grow customer accounts by identifying new opportunities and introducing relevant product lines.
* Teamwork: Work closely with our friendly branch team, suppliers, and customers to make sure projects run smoothly and materials are delivered on time.
* Commercial: Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts that make sense to our Customer and to maximise profit margins, while maintaining a competitive edge.
* Performance: Monitor results, learn from the data, and adapt your approach to keep improving.
What We’re Looking For
* A sharp commercial thinker who’s able to spot opportunities and turn them into sales.
* A natural relationship-builder with a strong, customer-first mindset.
* Someone who can take the lead on projects and keep things moving.
* Experience in sales, business development, account management or project management (preferably within the Construction sector, but this isn’t essential).
* Strong communication and negotiation skills.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across departments.
* Full driving licence (essential).
