Outreach & Food Co-ordinator
Salary : £27 - 28,000pa
Location : Main office based at LCC Community Trust but some of the work will be throughout the community in the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area
Hours of work : 39 hours per week, mainly office hours Mon – Fri 9am – 5pm, to include occasional evening and weekend work (approx. once a month)
Responsible to : Kickstart Social Supermarket Manager, LCC Community Trust
Responsible for : The Outreach Worker will provide services to support the financial, emotional, mental and social wellbeing of clients experiencing difficulties, that are further impacted by issues of poverty.
The Support Worker’s primary role is to lead and develop, coordinate and deliver the Mobile Open Door service. This will require building upon and developing the existing effective community and agency relationships/networks across communities. Each support worker has a primary area of responsibility they lead in, whilst contributing and collaborating with other colleagues as team in service delivery, under the direction of the Social Supermarket Manager.
PURPOSE OF JOB :
To promote and connect the work of Kickstart Social Supermarket & LCC Community Trust to charities, statutory and non-statutory agencies in the Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council area to support the wellbeing of our communities; to connect those in need to access food and financial support as made available by LCCCT. To coordinate food support for clients across the project.
Main Roles & Responsibilities :
Relations with People (Internal & External) :
* Develop excellent working relationships with partners to build a collaborative approach to the project, seeing partnership in how we provide this service.
* To promote and develop effective working relationships with external organisation in the community.
* To develop a multi-agency approach to the project.
* To liaise with other statutory, voluntary and community sector agencies as appropriate to maximise service provision for the client concerned.
* To undertake relational Initial Needs Assessments and Reviews of clients, leading to most appropriate tailored support options for clients.
* To support clients in their personalised development plan to ensure they have the tools needed to become self reliant.
Food distribution :
* Organise and maintain appropriate stock as needed for outreach
* Ensure parcels are packed and ready for delivery to clients
* Follow Food Hygiene guidance and keep up to date with any changes
Management & Supervisory Responsibilities :
* Work closely, in a positive, developmental manner with volunteers, partners and colleagues to secure the outcomes in the work plan.
* Ensure that corporate and legal duties and responsibilities of LCC Community Trust are integral to any work undertaken including Health & Safety and Equality & Diversity
* Adhere to the policies, procedures, standing orders and regulations of LCC Community Trust
* Assist with managing work experience placements, volunteers and apprentices as appropriate
Financial Accountability :
* Ensure appropriate handling of cash, donations & paperwork.
* Deliver the services within agreed financial limits.
Other duties :
* Ensure that the work plan is delivered with the needs of the charity at the heart of the process
* Actively support community initiatives that help with the delivery of the overall aims and objectives of LCC Community Trust.

* a compassionate heart for the wellbeing of the whole community, regardless of background, faith or nationality;
* a friendly, trustworthy approach to building relationships with all partners, in a spirit of partnership, collaboration and shared learning; and
* a high level of personal honesty and integrity.
In addition, the right candidate must have:
* previous experience working with people in poverty (minimum 12 months either paid or unpaid)
* strong communication (listening, speaking and report writing) skills;
* excellent organisational skills, including assessment and record keeping;
* previous experience of leading and coordinating programmes;
* ability to work alone and use initiative;
* commitment to working well as part of a team, to be flexible and undertake other tasks when needed;
* ability to maintain high level of confidentiality;
* sympathy with LCC Community Trust values; and
* full driving license, vehicle insurance and access to a roadworthy vehicle for work purposes.
