Job overview
There is a post at St Richard's Hospital from 26 March 2025 to 05 August 2025 as a General Surgery Foundation Year 1 equivalent.
The appointee will be supported by a named Assigned Education Supervisor (AES) to develop their portfolio and, if appropriate, work towards MRCS examinations. To bolster their career progression, successful applicants will be encouraged to engage with the departments in terms of education, audit, research, quality improvement projects, national conference abstract submission and presentation.
Other training opportunities include a weekly departmental meeting to discuss radiology, M&Ms, audits and weekly simulation training.
Main duties of the job
There is an approximately 1:10 only day time on-call commitment (just covering general surgery) with 12 hour shifts. The rest of the time will be for ward rounds, ward duties, and especially for those juniors with a keen interest in surgery the opportunity to sometimes help in theatre. The General Surgery Department has a high volume of emergency, colorectal, benign upper GI, bariatric and general surgery.
