Family Intervention Worker in the Barking & Dagenham Early Intervention in Psychosis Team (Band 7)
We are looking to appoint a dynamic Band 7 Family Interventions Worker at the Early Intervention in Psychosis Service in Barking & Dagenham.
The successful candidate will provide Family Interventions for individuals experiencing their first episode of psychosis and their families, support the provision of carer wellbeing interventions and carers' groups. A core part of the role will also involve the provision of teaching, consultation and supervision to member of the MDT. The post holders will have an interest in addressing inequalities.
Applicants should have experience of providing structured interventions to families and carers, and will have accessed training in at least one form of family work. Supervision will be provided by a senior Clinical Psychologist within the team. Additionally, we offer monthly FIp group supervision.
The post holder will join a well-established and supportive early intervention in psychosis service for people with a psychotic diagnosis and their families. The post holder will join a group of therapists in the EIP team, working with people aged between 14-65 who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis. The team has an assistant psychologist who offers a well-being and support package to carers and the post holder will work closely with this post.
This post will suit someone with an interest in developing their skills in applying evidence-based psychological therapies with this client group and working with multi-disciplinary teams. The post holders will be expected to participate in supervision and CPD focused on evidence-based interventions in psychosis. The service has practitioners interested in the provision of trauma informed care, with a particular focus on NET and EMDR approaches.
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - London
This post attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata).

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical supervision for MDT members undertaking FI training.
- Provide FI supervision and consultation to other clinicians undertaking FI training and delivering low intensity interventions.
- Contribute to formal and informal teaching for community multi-professional staff.
- Have a commitment to undertake research in Family Intervention and family inclusive practice
- Ensure high quality FI in the service in line with clinical governance, giving advice on the development of FI to senior clinicians and senior managers.

- To work autonomously in processing referrals, undertaking FI assessments, selecting appropriate clients with complex needs who are suitable for psychological treatment and interventions.
- To deliver highly specialised Family Intervention treatment for clients presenting to the secondary mental health service with severe, complex and enduring psychological difficulties, individually or in groups.
- To refer clients on, as appropriate, to other statutory and non statutory services.
- To work with clients in a variety of settings, including the client’s home and a range of community settings.
- To use specialist measurement tools and rating scales in undertaking highly specialised psychological assessments, formulation of specialist care plans and monitoring progress and measuring treatment outcomes.
- To assess clinical risk and formulate management plans, including crisis and contingency plans.
- To be directly accountable for own professional action, quality of clinical intervention provided and the maintenance of high standards of care within professional codes of practice, professional ethics and legal standards.

- To attend MDT meetings and be an active member of the team giving psychological input into case management and providing advice on Family Interventions to other professions.

DEVELOPMENT, SUPERVISION AND EDUCATION

- To update and maintain specialist skills and knowledge in FI.
- To attend specialist supervision provided for the delivery of NICE concordant FI.
