The role: As a Senior Economist in OMFIF’s Economic and Monetary Policy Institute, you will play a key role in creating our benchmark surveys, leading our data analysis and writing reports. The role will be primarily responsible for the data collection, analysis and execution of the Global Public Investor report, based on a survey of over 70 central banks on their FX reserve management strategies. The Senior Economist will also support the broader research of the Economic and Monetary Policy Institute, mainly focussed on capital market development, global financial regulation and macroeconomic policy. In time, you will have the opportunity to manage projects to improve the impact and reach of our research. The candidate will also inform and participate in OMFIF’s extensive programme of meetings with policy-makers and financial market participants, and expand our engagement with official institutions and investors across the world. Key responsibilities: · Lead the surveys, data collection and analysis of major reports. · Analyse primarily and secondary data with rigour and creativity. · Write research findings with concise language. · Work closely with OMFIF’s marketing team to improve the dissemination of research findings. · Liaise with members and prospects in planning and implementing research projects. · Produce commentaries and podcasts linked to EMP research and events. · Moderate discussions and present research in OMFIF meetings and events. Skills, experience and qualifications: Required · Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, public policy or a related field. · At least 2-3 years’ experience in an economics or financial markets research role. · Demonstrable data analysis skills. · Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. · Keen interest in the global economy. · Ability to write clearly on economics and financial market themes. · Comfortable working on multiple projects at one time.
