IT Helpdesk Graduate
We are looking for an IT Helpdesk Graduate to work within the dedicated IT team in Northwich, Cheshire, reporting to the Deputy Infrastructure and Helpdesk Manager. The key purpose of the role is to provide Helpdesk/1st Line support to 100 business staff mainly across 2 sites, acting as the initial point of call for IT Infrastructure, desktops, and applications, both 3rd party and internally-developed. Respond to day-to-day general support requests by phone, email to our Helpdesk system, and in person. These tasks include access to systems, password resets, printer issues, business as usual tasks, and MS Office issues including Excel.
Some work on specific projects may also be required as projects demand.
The role will also require working on a shift rota basis to cover certain business as usual activities undertaken by the IT team covering the hours 8:30 – 19:00. Once trained, you will cover IT end of day duties and be on call on a team rota basis.
About the role
This role will be responsible for 1st line helpdesk support, resolution of issues where possible, and progression of tickets to appropriate team members as required.
* General PC knowledge providing technical support for internal business users (Windows 10/11/2022 server, Microsoft Office).
* Provide desktop hardware support and resolution.
* Provision of equipment for new staff.
* Ability to troubleshoot and provide resolution of incidents.
* Answering and logging of calls to helpdesk system.
* Effectively monitor the status of incidents reported, escalating to the Infrastructure and Helpdesk Manager as necessary to ensure interruptions to service are resolved in a timely manner.
* Coordinate IT business information/activity including interpretation of technical documentation.
* Produce good quality documentation and written reports.
* Support members of staff with requests and provide solutions to general MS Office issues.
Skills/Experience
Technical requirement:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
* A level of experience in an IT desktop support role for Infrastructure and desktop systems.
* Approachable and comfortable dealing with people from all levels across the organization.
* Confident telephone manner and able to provide remote support.
* Friendly, flexible, can-do approach.
* Logical thinker with a strong ability to problem solve.
* The ability to work unsupervised, under own initiative prioritizing work to strict deadlines.
* Attention to detail and a good team player.
* Able to act with skill, due care, diligence, and integrity at all times.
* Committed to the resolution of issues in demanding timescales sometimes requiring additional effort and hours.
* Windows permissions and access control.
